About Mark Moreno

Since 1992 Professor Moreno has worked at four universities:  Texas A&M, Hampton University, Universidad Iberoamericana_Leon, and Andrews University. His academic scholarship focuses on several areas, including Placemaking, Person/Environment relationships, kitchen and bath design, creativity, and children’s education. His teaching methodologies emphasize hands-on experiences.  Professor Moreno has also worked independently and for several architecture firms. He lectures at national and international conferences, and in 2011 he received the Daniel Augsberger Excellence in Teaching Award. In 2018, he received the university president’s Heart @ Andrews Award.
He shares his professional expertise widely within his community, partnering especially with many non-profit organizations, consistently promoting walkability, a quality sense of place, and his passion for creative scholarship.  For about 12 years, he served on the board of directors and long-range planning committee at Curious Kids Museum, Saint Joseph, MI, helping facilitate the development of Silver Beach Center, Curious Kids Discovery Zone, Shadowland Ballroom, the Carousel, and Whirlpool Field splash pad. He has served on the SW Michigan Strategic Leadership Council and as a board member of Citadel Dance and Music Center.
