Rain or shine, Smart Cart serves healthy food to students
Spartan Daily (2009)
Abstract
Despite the inclement weather, the Smart Cart was still out- side selling fresh fruits and vegetables on Tuesday.
Located in front of Clark Hall, the cart is positioned along a high traffic walkway, said Marjorie Freedman, the principal investigator on the Smart Cart advisory board. Last week, the premiere of the event was greeted with sunshine, but workers were still bundled up in sweaters and scarves to fightt the familiar winter winds. The Smart Cart is part of the Healthy Campus Initiative which started in the Fall 2007 semester with a grant from Kaiser Permanente, according to the Healthy Campus Web site. “The overarching goal of Healthy Campus: San Jose State is to create a healthful campus environment for students, faculty and staff."
