About Mariagiulia Giuffré

Mariagiulia Giuffré, LLM in Human Rights Law, Queen Mary, University of London, is PhD Researcher (specialization in International and European Law) at the School of International Studies, University of Trento (Italy). She has been a Visiting Fellow at the Centre of Migration Law at the Radboud University of Nijmegen (The Netherlands) and a Visiting Lecturer at the Edge Hill University (UK). She has served as an intern at the Italian Consulate in London, has both worked and volunteered for human rights NGOs, and is a Doctoral Affiliate to the Refugee Law Initiative (RLI), School of Advanced Study, University of London. Since October 2010, she has been a Visiting Researcher at the Faculty of Law, Lund University (Sweden) teaching at the LLM programs in Maritime Law and International Human Rights Law. Her research lies at the junction of migration control and international refugee and human rights protection standards. In particular, it aims to investigate whether the implementation of bilateral agreements linked to readmission can hamper refugees’ access to protection. Mariagiulia has published in the International and Comparative Law Quarterly, the International Journal of Refugee Law, and the Refugee Survey Quarterly, among others.
