About María Eugenia De Luna Villalón, PhD.
María Eugenia De Luna holds a PhD. in Hispanic Studies from The University of Western Ontario (2011), an MA in Applied Linguistics (2007), and a BA in Communication Sciences (1990) from Universidad de las Américas Puebla (UDLAP). Dr. de Luna is an experienced Spanish as a Foreign Language scholar who has worked at universities in Canada, Hong Kong, and the United States. Alongside teaching and researching, Dr. de Luna is also actively involved in community service learning and access to university for international and non-traditional learners.
Currently, Dr. De Luna is conducting research on how language impacts the social participation of Mexican Temporary Agricultural Workers in the Fraser Valley region through a sociolinguistic and social justice approach. Additionally, she is committed to exploring and creating progressive student-centred learning opportunities that extend beyond the classroom to learning and teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language.
