Abstract
Methane leaks from natural gas pipelines are a health and safety hazard, contribute to climate change, kill trees, and are a waste of ratepayers' money.

This map shows methane observations collected across the City of Salem, Massachusetts by Bob Ackley (Gas Safety Inc) and Nathan Phillips (Boston University) between August 28 and September 13, 2016, in collaboration with Salem Alliance for the Environment (SAFE). Map composed by Marcos Luna (Salem State University).

95th Percentile points represent clusters of observations that exceeded the daily 95th percentile of methane concentrations. The larger the size of the bubble, the more observations above that benchmark at that site. The darker the color, the higher the average methane concentration for those observations.
