Abstract
During the JMU Learning Centers' "Building a Committment to Antiracism" presentation, presenter Claire Ravenberg mentioned that antiracism education is part of professional development for Peer Assisted Study Session (PASS) leaders. As part of the PASS program's anti-racism training initiatives, PASS leaders are required to prepare for professional development meetings by exploring resources from a list of books, articles, videos, movie, podcasts, etc. These anti-racism resources may relate to PASS leaders' work for the Learning Centers, their future careers, or some other aspect of their lives. At professional development meetings, they designate about 20-30 minutes for leaders to discuss their chosen resources in small groups (about 4-5 leaders). Based on post-meeting surveys, PASS leaders appear to enjoy learning about anti-racism asynchronously and sharing their thoughts with their peers during professional development.
