About Maha Saleh

Dr. Maha Saleh is a medical geneticist at the Children's Hospital (LHSC) whose research involves a broad range of genetic disorders in children, including the study of genotype/phenotype correlations, clinical outcomes, and presentation of disorders.

Dr. Saleh is also interested in rare genetic mutations linked to developmental disorders, prenatal genetics, and skeletal dysplasias.


“Dr. Saleh obtained her medical degree from King Abdulaziz University in Saudi Arabia in 2009. She worked as a researcher at the Hospital for Sick Children’s Metabolic and Genetics Department for a year during which Dr. Saleh established the Lysosomal Storage Disorders database. Dr. Saleh later joined the Genetics Residency program at the University of Toronto and completed her training in June 2017.  She is interested in Medical Education for which Dr. Saleh received the Joe Clarke teaching awards in 2015.  As well she has attained the Stepping Stones Teacher Development Program at the University of Toronto in 2016.  Dr. Saleh completed her Fellowship in Paediatric Simulation through the Hospital for Sick Children Learning Institute in 2017 during which she conducted a QI project that applied the use of High-Fidelity Simulation as part of the Postgraduate Medical Genetics Teaching Curriculum.

Dr. Saleh is the Genetic Education lead for  both Undergraduate and Postgraduate Medical Education at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at Western University’s. Her clinical work is broad and includes General Pediatric and Adult Genetics, Prenatal Genetics and Syndromic Cancer Genetics. Her research interest includes exploring prenatal presentation of rare genetic conditions and expanding the phenotypic spectrum of rare diseases.   

Dr. Saleh has  joined the Department of Paediatrics at Western University and Children’s Hospital, London Health Sciences Centre as an Assistant Professor in July 2017.”
