Abstract
Since the movement was first defined 15 years ago, Open Access (OA) has changed the way libraries talk about the scholarly landscape. In Open Access and the Future of Scholarly Communication: Implementation, legal and OA experts Kevin L. Smith and Katherine A. Dickson curate an in-depth walk through the state of OA today. The second volume in a two-volume set and part of the series Creating the 21st Century Academic Library, this book explores how to implement OA projects and initiatives in academic libraries. Comprehensive in scope, the book requires only the barest initial understanding of OA. It covers major themes and issues, how libraries can support open initiatives, OA as it relates to both undergraduate and graduate research, and open data.
