Abstract
Digital preservation is a daunting challenge, and one that is currently staring many librarians and archivists square in the face. For some, the technological considerations are frightening. For others, digital preservation presents overwhelming logistical, political, or financial challenges. For others still, the sheer scope of the issue makes denial the more attractive option. Fortunately, digital preservation does not exist in a vacuum; there is help to be had. Adrian Brown is a digital preservation expert, and Practical Digital Preservation is his answer to librarians’ fears. Currently the Head of Preservation and Access at the Parliamentary Archives, Brown has extensive preservation experience, including time spent with the National Archives, the Planets Project, the Digital Preservation Coalition, and the International Records Management Trust. Practical Digital Preservation is informed by countless hours of hands-on preservation work.
