Review of: Crash Course in Collection Development, edited by Wayne Disher
The Journal of Academic Librarianship (2015)
  • Madeline M. Kelly, Western Washington University
Abstract
In this second edition of Crash Course in Collection Development, Wayne Disher updates and expands his 2007 primer on collection development issues. Organized into 15 short chapters, the title includes new sections on collection mapping, the use of infographics in reporting, electronic content selection, and patron-driven selection—as well as an entire new chapter called “Collections for the Digital Age.” The added content may be comparatively brief, but given the pace of change in library collections, it would be troublesome not to include anything on these topics. The title's detailed table of contents and index make locating information on specific topics easy.
