Barreras: Language Ideologies, Academic Language, and the Marginalization of Latin@ English Language Learners

Abstract
This theoretical essay begins with a critical review of three important policy-informing documents pertaining to the evaluation and teaching of English Language Learners, and follows with a critique of the reports' pedagogical recommendations through the lens of early literature on diglossia that problematizes implicit ideologies of the native-speaker norm and its derivations in curriculum.
