Presidente AIBADA and the "China-European Union Working Party”
Until the 31.12.2009 he was Adviser in the Directorate D (Knowledge-based economy) of the Directorate General for Internal Market and Services, European Commission, Brussels (Belgium).
He has been for 9 years Head of the Unit "Removal of trade barriers for goods (articles 28 to 30 EC)" also in the Directorate General for Internal Market.
From 1982 to 1986, before he joined the European Commission, he was Chief of the Food, Plant and Animal Law Services of FAO, in Rome (Italy).
Qualified in law in 1965 he decided to specialise in Consumer and Food Law at an early stage and worked as a lawyer until 1980 in Barcelona (Spain).
From 1980 to 1982 he was Legal Adviser of Prosema, organiser of "Alimentaria", the International Food Show of Barcelona.
As a result of his professional role and expertise he was elected in 1975 to the Council of the European Food Law Association (EFLA) and in 1996 he was designated “patron” of the association.
He has served in several Working Parties relating to free movement and environmental affairs and is founder of the "Asociación Iberoamericana para el Derecho Alimentario" (Buenos Aires) and the “China-European Union Working Party”.
He has lectured extensively and has presented papers at national and international conferences within this topic area and has contributed articles to leading journals and publications, and also serves on the Advisory Board of the European Food and Feed Law Review (EFFL) and the Revista Aranzadi de Unión Europea. Mr. González Vaqué is also honorary member of the Asociación Catalana de Ciencias de la Alimentación (Institut d'Estudis Catalans). He has also acted as Parliamentary Advisor of Andorra (2017-2018).
He is professor at the Universidad de Girona (Spain), “Pablo de Olavide” de Sevilla (ídem), San Antonio de Murcia (ídem), de Castilla-La Mancha (ídem) and of the CEI International Affairs - Universitat de Barcelona - Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Master en Diplomàcia i Funciò Pública Internacional). He is also lecturer at the Università degli Studi di Ferraraand the dell'Università degli Studi del Piemonte Orientale Amedeo Avogadro (Italia).
Mr.González Vaqué is at the present time Director of Food and Agrarian Policies of the “Fundació Triptolemos” (Barcelona).
