Abstract

The goal of this conceptual paper was to identify the principles and communication skills used in coaching psychology and to compare them to the communication strategies used in financial counseling. The paper provides an overview of the theoretical basis for coaching psychology and financial counseling. Then, it presents the most important principles and communication skills and the facilitators’ roles in coaching and financial counseling. Unless financial professionals understand these principles and skills in coaching, they could be confused on how to integrate both approaches.
