Associate Professor of University Library
Lori Osmus Kappmeyer is Associate Professor and Head of the Metadata & Cataloging Department at the Iowa State University Library, where she has worked since beginning her library career in 1978. She holds an M.L.S. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, 1978, and an M.A. in Interdisciplinary Graduate Studies (architecture, art and history) from Iowa State University, 2000, plus a B.A. in History from the College of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois, 1977. Lori began her career as a serials cataloger and then held positions including Head of the Serials Cataloging Section, Head of the Serials & Monographs Original Cataloging Department, and Assistant Director for Technical Services. Starting July 1, she is serving as Interim Associate Dean for Collections & Technical Services. She has been active in the American Library Association and is the author of several articles about serials cataloging, cataloging costs and authority control.
