Abstract

[...] did those at the Damien Center, where Don originally went to get solace and ended up giving it himself to others in need. [...] there was his family of seamstresses, who started with him when he returned home in 1983 to ply the fashion trade from the Circle City after success and frustration designing in the Big Apple. The ground-floor, one-room space almost looked like something out of New York - draped fabrics to cover the huge floor-to-ceiling windows; draped fabrics over foam-filled couch cushions; fashion magazines on glass-topped coffee tables, and a loft for the workroom, so his seamstresses could continue sewing.
