Abstract

Opinion. Responds to the article `All hyped up and no place to go,' by David Bell et al which appeared in Gender Place & Culture magazine's 1994 issue on lesbianism. Importance of the affirmation that femmes are real lesbians; Making room for subversive readings of normative gender codes; Validation of male control of public spaces and closes off considerations of how women inhabit public spaces.
