Abstract

This article focuses on housing problems facing the African American community in New Orleans, Louisiana following Hurricane Katrina. It mentions that the community were facing various housing problems even before the hurricane including housing affordability and substandard subsidized housing. The New Orleans Housing Authority is pushing ahead with plans to redevelop its properties for mixed-income occupancy despite severe housing needs among its tenants.
