Learning Outcomes are now routinely part of a syllabus. In an effort to correlate outcomes to improved student learning, specific competencies were added to course requirements in an organic chemistry course. Four topics were specified in the syllabus as core concepts for which students must demonstrate proficiency. Survey information on the competencies and process will be presented.
