Collection development in public health: A guide to selection tools
The Acquistions Librarian (2004)
  • Lisa C. Wallis, Northeastern Illinois University
Abstract
Public health librarians face many challenges in collection development because the field is multidisciplinary, the collection's users have varied needs, and many of the essential resources are grey literature materials. Further, little has been published about public health selection tools. However, librarians responsible for these areas have a number of resources available for their use. As in any subject area, each has its strengths and weaknesses, and users will have to consider their individual collection's needs when deciding which tools are most valuable to them.
