During an interview on WNYC, Lindsay Nash said local police departments must be made aware that they cannot detain someone for immigration enforcement, as per a state appellate court ruling. She said, “It’s critical for a police department that large to know how to implement the court’s decision, how they have to change their practices. And frankly, the consequences of them not knowing the law and arresting someone without authorization are significant.”
