Abstract
The synthesis and characterization of select amino furanones that may have potential anti-hypoxic activity will be discussed. The condensation of 2-acetylbutyrolactone with either primary or secondary amines will produce the corresponding amino furanones. 1HMR, 13C NMR and COSY NMR will confirm the structures as an imine or enamine. Solubility studies were also completed. Ultimately biological testing of these compounds will occur.
