AbstractHierarchical Linear Modeling is employed to test the influence of both teacher characteristics (race, gender, experience) and demographic composition of the student body and faculty on collective efficacy. Data are drawn from a survey of over 22,000 students and nearly 3,000 teachers in a large urban school district.
