About Lillian MacNell

My research focuses on how hunger and food insecurity affect health and wellbeing. In my research, I employ multiple methods to better understand how people navigate their food environments and experience poor food access. I am especially interested in how rural residents’ perceptions of their food environments can help local organizations best address their communities’ needs.

My teaching and research interests also include rural health, environmental health and justice, and quantitative and qualitative methods.
