Message Networks: From Alexander Graham Bell to Steve Jobs
(2020)
  • Lester G Telser
Abstract
The telephone enabled rapid long distance vocal communication that was not face-to-face. Before its invention except for speeches, lectures and sermons face-to-face were the only means available. Taverns and coffee houses were a popular venue. Steve Jobs the innovator of email and the smart phone created a new world. I use geometry in the form of Hamiltonian circuits to describe the history from the dumb phone to the smart phone and its consequences including the internet.
