About Les Schiefelbein

Les is a seasoned arbitrator and mediator in commercial and government disputes. Les founded Schiefelbein Global Dispute Resolution to bring his more than 30 years of experience as a corporate lawyer in resolving international legal and business matters to the practice of dispute resolution. Les has arbitrated major matters under the rules of the ICC International Court of Arbitration, the International Centre for Dispute Resolution, the London Court of International Arbitration and the American Arbitration Association.
Les retired in 2013 from the position of Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for Lockheed Martin Space Systems. At Lockheed Martin he was a thought leader and innovative problem solver with demonstrated expertise in aerospace, national security, corporate governance, intellectual property to include trade secret and patent infringement, and high technology commercial and government programs. His business acumen, legal excellence, leadership and integrity were recognized when he was the first attorney honored with the Lockheed Martin career excellence award. Les further gained global dispute resolution experience as an Air Force Judge Advocate lawyer in the international sale of billion dollar aircraft, satellite and electronic systems.
Colonel Schiefelbein’s expertise and contributions were recognized with the award as the Outstanding Air Force Reserve Legal Officer.
Les is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and an Executive Director of the Silicon Valley Arbitration & Mediation Center. Les is a panel member of the American Arbitration Association (commercial and mediation panels), the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR), the U.S. Council for International Business (USCIB) for ICC International Court of Arbitration and the London Court of International Arbitration. He is a lecturer at the Santa Clara University School of Law, Center for Global Law and Policy and a frequent speaker on international arbitration issues. Les also participates in the American Bar Association Military Pro Bono Project.
