About Dr. Laura Richardson, RCEP

Dr. Richardson, Professor of Instruction in Exercise Science is an American College of Sports Medicine Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist.  Her research interests are obesity stigmatization and fat bias with emphasis on students’ perceptions of weightism. As an educator, Dr. Richardson is dedicated to innovative pedagogy, fostering online teaching and learning initiatives, digital course materials and interprofessional collaboration. In addition to academia, she has over 20 years of clinical experience in healthcare as an Clinical Exercise Physiologist practitioner working with patients diagnosed with: immunological, metabolic, pulmonary, neuromuscular, cardiovascular and orthopedic disorders using exercise as a mode of therapeutic intervention. Laura’s expertise with is working with Bariatric patients utilizing behavior modification strategies for lifelong weight management success.
