About Laura Fero, PhD, MSN, RN

Laura Fero, PhD, MSN, RN, joined St. Catherine University in June 2019. Prior to this, she most recently served as the dean of nursing and health sciences/director of nursing at Lees-McRae College in North Carolina.  A Wisconsin native, Fero is a 1993 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she earned her BSN.  She subsequently earned her MSN from the University of Phoenix and a PhD in Nursing from the University of Pittsburgh in 2009.
 
Dean Fero provides leadership across all nursing programs within the School of Health, setting a strategy for sustainable growth of the high-quality, outcome-driven standards for which St. Kate’s nursing programs are known, while maintaining a liberal arts core. Her research interests and passions include nursing leadership, simulation-based performance, high fidelity simulation, and the use of critical thinking in evidence-based research for quality improvements.  Prior to her academic career, Fero held numerous leadership positions in the care delivery sector.
