AbstractThis report describes the experience of the University of California in developing and implementing race-neutral undergraduate admission and outreach policies and programs during the period 1995 through 2002. In the five years following the elimination of race-conscious policies, the University adopted a number of strategies designed to enhance the academic preparation of UC students and to maintain access for low-income students, those from educationally disadvantaged families and schools, and those from underserved geographical areas of the state.
