Abstract
This presentation reported on an Australian Council of Deans of Science (ACDS) funded project to run two series of workshops on improving assessment design. It described the structure of the workshops and presented preliminary data from pre- and post-surveys of participants. While not all enrolled completed the program, those who did were very enthusiastic and keen to maintain the group as a community of practice. The surveys indicated that participants had gained skills and confidence in a number of areas related to good assessment design. The value of peer review and use of learning analytics were seen as particularly valuable. One aspect on which participants wanted more information was rubric design.
