Canada's Communal Approach to Research Data Management
Shanghai Society for Library Science, Data Services Professional Committee Seminar (2018)
  • Kristi Thompson
Abstract
Canada has been developing policy and infrastructure to support research data management for data coming from federally-funded research. The approach has been funded on a national level but developed from the bottom up with contributions from a small volunter army of librarians and data professionals. With a combination of nationally supported and accessible technologyand a "train the trainer" approach to knowledge sharing, the goal is to develop a national network of expertise and infrastructure that supports all Canadian academic institutions, from the largest and best-funded to the smaller and more remote.
