Abstract

This report has been prepared as part of the process of initiating research-led activities with the aim of stimulating economic development in the Southern Gold Coast region through music. Connecting Southern Gold Coast ltd has spearheaded this endeavour in partnership with the Centre for Tourism, Leisure and Work, Southern Cross University.

This document is the first of three reports that provide a platform to stimulate economic development through music in the Southern Gold Coast region. The aim of this particular report is to provide information about a) relevant stakeholders connected to music and cultural tourism industry in the Southern Gold Coast region, and b) the current level of music and music-related activity in the region.

The information presented in this report has been informed by current and seminal literature regarding culturally based hubs. Additionally the report draws on research-based observations regarding music-related firms operating in the Southern Gold Coast region.
