Abstract

Sony disclosed that 77 million Playstation and Qriocity online service customers had their credit card data, billing addresses, and other personal information stolen between 17 April 2011 and 19 April 2011. Experts needed till 25 April 2011 to conduct full forensic analysis and find out what data was stolen. It included personal information such as: names, e-mail addresses, birth dates, log-in information, purchase histories. Large corporations need to be held accountable for their security vulnerabilities and breaches. More recently Apple iPhone secret file was found to store longitude and latitude data of its users. These can be synched up to your computer, an external server, even to affiliates potentially who want to track and trace your location chronicle. Although the privacy policy clearly states the collection and use of location data, users are not always well-informed about what this actually means regarding the potential to conduct behavioural profile, information gathering, physical safety etc.
