Review

A dapper young boy named Elliot goes to the aquarium one day with his father and finds the perfect companion for his sophisticated tastes - a penguin! Rather than purchase a stuffed penguin as his father suggests, Elliot sneaks home one of the real little tuxedoed friends. Mischief ensues when Elliot’s father discovers the penguin in the bathtub. Is he upset? Of course not! Elliot’s father has his own special pet – a real Galapagos tortoise! One Cool Friend is a hilarious book with lovably eccentric characters. Like father, like son, both Elliot and his father have an appreciation for unique pets, which is cleverly conveyed through clues in the book’s illustrations. The young reader benefits from learning about these animals and their special habitats, along with a lesson in geography and exploration. Highly Recommended.
