Abstract

This study sought to develop a conceptual framework to promote an understanding of why mathematics and science teachers choose to teach in rural and/or remote school communities. This study also sought to explore teacher personal profiles based on their demographics, teaching background and work destination factors to understand their decision-making patterns. In addition, the study sought to explore mathematics and science secondary teacher perceptions of factors hindering their permanency in rural and remote schools.
