About Kerwin Swint

Dr. Kerwin Swint is Director of the School of Government and International Affairs at Kennesaw State University in Atlanta. His research focus is electoral politics, media studies, and political history. As a published author, speaker, and professor, he or his work has appeared in a number of national and international media, including CNN, FOX News, the BBC, the ABC program The View, The Wall Street Journal, The Los Angeles Times, NPR, The Toronto Star, The Daily Mail (UK), National Journal, Mental Floss, Publisher's Weekly, Salon, Slate, The Chronicle of Higher Education, and numerous other media. His most recent book is The King Whisperers: Power Behind the Throne from Rasputin to Rove, (Union Square Press) His is also the author of the award-winning book Mudslingers: The 25 Most Negative Political Campaigns of All Time, which is often quoted by political journalists and used as a standard of political negativity. He also authored a well-received biography of Fox News Founder Roger Ailes, called Dark Genius. His first book, written in 1998, was Political Consultants and Negative Campaigning: The Secrets of the Pros. Dr. Swint also worked as a professional political consultant and pollster from 1998 to 2004. He is a native Atlantan, and a graduate of the University of Georgia. He and his wife Sandy live in west Cobb County with their three children.
