Abstract
The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) since the declaration has been adopted by
member countries. Nigeria been a member is yet to fully reach the level of awareness and advocacy
levels in both its urban and rural areas with less than nine years till the expiration of the year 2030
target. The paper set out to highlight the roles libraries can play in the attainment of the SDGs #8 in
Nigeria. The paper delved back to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) with a view to give a
background to the SDGs. With the methodology of simple literature review.
