About Kenith Taukolo
Kenith Taukolo is a senior at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy, originally hailing from Gurnee, Illinois. As an avid baker, his first research project was about which type of flour best cultivates microbes such as bacteria and yeast. His interest in microorganisms continued throughout high school, as he has studied COVID-19 and HIV and their potential therapies through research conducted both at IMSA and at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine. His current research project studies the efficacy of different blood tests at prescribing antibiotics at Northwestern University hospitals. At his school, he is involved in the Red Cross Club and Medical Society, where he organizes various community service projects such as holding blood drives and distributing first-aid kits. Kenith also enjoys learning about public policy and foreign affairs through his involvement as captain of the Congressional Debate and Model UN teams. In the future, Kenith plans to merge his passions of both infectious disease and policy to become a doctor who improves America’s public health protocols.
