Abstract
A large portion of the cost of a weapon system is incurred after the hardware is delivered. Ownership costs due to operations, maintenance, support equipment, repairs, and spare parts usually exceed the procurement costs of design, development, and production. These ownership costs together with procurement costs comprise the life-cycle cost (LCC) of a system. Clearly, total life-cycle cost of a weapon system must be carefully considered if investments are to be made wisely.
