Abstract

Authorship is an important way to recognize scholarly contributions, contribute to your discipline, develop professional skills, and advance your career. This article describes the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors' guidelines for “Defining the role of authors and contributors” (2020) and provides guidance about how to appropriately recognize authors and other contributors.
