About Dr Kathryn Richardson

Dr Katie Richardson is a Research Fellow in the Centre for School and System Improvement at the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER). She coordinates and is a facilitator for Professional Learning at ACER. She also works on a range of projects in the areas relating to assessment, learning, and teaching and inclusive education. Recently she was part of a team researching teachers’ use of data to inform their practice during COVID-19 restrictions.  

Dr Richardson has a broad range of experience working with practicing and pre-service teachers across a range of educational disciplines including assessment, learning, and teaching, using data to inform educational practices, inclusive education, TESOL, and pre-service teacher mentoring. She lectured at Deakin University in the Inclusive Education team until 2018.  Prior to joining ACER, she also taught for the Melbourne Graduate School of Education at the University of Melbourne and developed a pre-service teacher education course for a private tertiary provider in Melbourne. Dr Richardson began her career in education as a classroom teacher and a specialist EAL/D teacher. She has worked in both public and private sector schools and taught students ranging from Foundation/Prep to Year 12.
