Abstract

Fatty acid compositions were determined for vegetative plant parts of seven species in seven genera of Malvaceae. In all cases, sterculate and malvalate were most concentrated in the roots. These cyclopropenoid fatty acids made up larger proportions of neutral lipid fractions than of phospholipids. Concentrations of the two compounds were within the range known to inhibit growth of some fungi.
