About Katherine Field-Rothschild

Prof. Field - Rothschild has been teaching English composition for twelve years at St. Mary's College and prior, at Holy Names University and Contra Costa College. Her specializations are Information Literacy, knowledge transfer, first-year composition (FYC), and young adult and dystopian literature.

Prof. Field was formerly a reporter for various media outlets, has worked for the LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired, and has been involved with Disability Studies research. As a writer, she has written stories for young adults and children. 

Prof. Field is currently researching knowldge transfer from FYC to WID, Information Literacy, and protest platforms.

  • “Artist’s Grant” from Vermont Studio Center. Johnson, VT: July 2016
  • “Assessment in Action (AIA) Project: Strengthening the connection between English Composition learning objectives and library learning objectives to positively impact student success.” Board-approved study funded by AIA grant. Moraga, CA 2014-2015
  • “Acceleration in Context Grant for Contra Costa College: Improving Retention rates in Community College Composition Classes.” Awarded yearlong grant by AIC California. 2013
  • “Disability in the Courtroom.” A workshop presented to public defenders working with disabled clients. Five presentations throughout 2004
  • “Disability Awareness.” An interactive presentation using a dog guide. This presentation was given to San Francisco grammar schools in 2004, presented by the Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired
