About Kate Levine

Kate Levine joins the faculty as an Associate Professor of Law. Before Cardozo, Levine was an Assistant Professor of Law at St. John's University, teaching classes in Criminal Law, Contemporary Topics in Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure. She was a Visiting Assistant Professor at UC Irvine School of Law and also taught in the lawyering program at NYU School of Law.Levine earned her B.A. magna cum laude from Harvard College and her J.D. cum laude from Harvard Law School. She clerked for the Honorable Robert P. Patterson, Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. Levine was an Appellate Public Defender at Appellate Advocates. Prior to that, she was an associate at Cravath, Swaine & Moore.
Levine's scholarship focuses on police prosecution and includes articles in the Duke Law Journal, the Columbia Law Review, the Georgetown Law Journal, and the Iowa Law Review among others. Her teaching and research interests include criminal law, criminal procedure, policing, evidence and the legal ethics of criminal lawyering.
