Description
Before my grandpa passed in December of 2019, I used to spend the weekends over at my grandparents house. I would help out around the house, watch movies, and play card games. The highlight of each day though was helping my grandmother make breakfast while my grandpa made her coffee. While we ate our chocolate chip pancakes or baked oatmeal, we would sit in front of the porch doors to their backyard. Each of those mornings, a turtle dove or two would be sitting on the railing of the porch. Until my grandpa passed, I only ever saw those birds at their house, now I see them everywhere: at home, while driving, outside my dorm building, etc. I began this colored pencil portrait after a particularly hard day of classes ended with me walking back to 1502 and seeing a group of turtle doves outside my dorm window. I believe that God sends you what you need to see when you need to see it, and my belief is what inspired me to complete this portrait.
