Attributes and Strategies Associated with Video Game Play Among Elementary School Students

Abstract

While children’s learning with video games is most often studied in the formal school context, children also experience learning and education of a different nature when they choose to spend time playing video games. This study used self-report survey research and a creativity assessment to gather data on the game play habits of children in grades four and five. This is a summary of a compilation of analyses examining the characteristics associated with playing video games more often among upper elementary school children, including demographics, preferences, game play strategies and attributes.
