Abstract
This article builds on Brian Quinn's (2000) essay, "The McDonaldization of Academic Libraries?" to argue that academic libraries today continue to operate under a Weberian paradigm of efficiency, calculability, predictability, and control. In my view, the McDonaldization of academic libraries represents the growing influence of corporate aims and values in the public sector under new public management, introducing a significant shift in the economy and role of the academic library.
