About Karen Sames

Karen M Sames, OTD, MBA, OTR/L, FAOTA started teaching at St. Kate's in 1995. Karen primarily teaches content related to foundational knowledge of occupational science and occupational therapy, management of occupational therapy services, entrepreneurship, theoretical basis of occupational therapy, and political influences on occupational therapy practice. Karen takes an active role in advocating for the profession of occupational therapy through her leadership of the Government Affairs Committee of the Minnesota Occupational Therapy Association. She is active in the American Occupational Therapy Association, currently serving on the Nominations Committee, and as Vice-Chair of the Affiliated State Association Presidents. She authored the text Documenting Occupational Therapy Practice, and is a frequent presenter at local, state, and national venues.
