About Karen Mielke

I teach medicine full time in the ambitious integrated curriculum of the MPAS program. Working with the brightest of our future healers and an energetic and talented faculty feeds my excitement for learning. It is a great privilege to assist in the training of our fellow colleagues and close collaborators in the practice of medicine. I am a pediatrician and expert in child abuse and neglect. I served eight years as founding medical director and advisory board chair for First Step Resource Center in Missoula, MT, and seven years as Director of Child Abuse and Neglect Services for the Marshfield Clinic. I practiced primary care pediatrics in Marshfield, WI, and served as an Associate Consultant in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at the Mayo Clinic while teaching residents and medical students in clinical pediatrics. Prior to coming to St. Catherine University, I taught college and high school courses in Anatomy and Physiology, and high school courses in Calculus, Physics, and Constitutional Law. I received my law degree from The University of Montana School of Law, medical degree from the University of Minnesota, and BA in Mathematics from Randolph-Macon Women's College in Lynchburg, VA. I completed residency in pediatrics at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine.
