About Karen McKenzie

Dr. McKenzie is Adjunct Professor of Accounting at the H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship, Nova Southeastern University. Before joining NSU in 2007, she was an Associate Professor at Florida Atlantic University (1989-2007). While at FAU, Dr. McKenzie served as first Chair of the College of Business Faculty Development Council and Chair of the School of Accounting Curriculum Committee. 

Dr. McKenzie has numerous publications in the areas of managerial, behavioral, and governmental accounting. She has been recognized by the Association of Government Accountants as recipient of its “At-Large Research Achievement Award.” As recipient of the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) Gil Crain Memorial Research Grant, her research serves as a foundation for GASB deliberations on a reporting standard for Tax Abatements granted by state and local governments. Her current research interests are in the areas of service efforts and accomplishments reporting by state and local governments, as well as Accounting for Sustainability.

Dr. McKenzie’s teaching experience includes the areas of managerial, governmental, and intermediate accounting theory.
