About Kara S. Koschmann, PhD, APRN, CPNP-PC

Kara teaches in the DNP program and serves as the assistant dean of graduate clinical nursing over St. Kate's DNP: NP options, the DNP: PM plan of study, and our MSN-Entry Level program. She is certified as a primary care pediatric nurse practitioner. Kara earned her bachelor's degree in nursing from Valparaiso University in Indiana and her master's of science in nursing of children from Saint Louis University, in St. Louis, Missouri. Her PhD in Nursing is from the University of Minnesota. She is a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Future of Nursing Scholar. Her dissertation research study was titled, "Urban, low-income, African American Well-Child Care: Parent and Provider Experiences and Expectations." Her clinical practice has included pediatric hematology and oncology as a registered nurse and pediatric orthopedics and primary care as a pediatric nurse practitioner. Her experiences working in North County St. Louis, Missouri reinforced her interests in addressing racism and healthcare and health equity from the nursing perspective.
